For a mixed group at a charity golf day, start with a towel that clips to a bag, then check its hanging length on real bags. A center-slit towel can suit players who prefer draping it over a club, but it is a different attachment experience—not automatically a more useful giveaway because the towel is larger.
The buying question is not just “How big is the logo?” It is “Where will this towel live during the round, and can the player reach it without it dragging or blocking a pocket?”
Clip and center slit: what changes?
A clip attaches the towel to a suitable ring or loop. As one manufacturer example, Frogger’s Amphibian towel specifications list a 14-by-14-inch format and a D-clip carabiner. That is evidence of one product’s construction, not proof that every clipped towel clears every bag or fits every attachment point.
A center slit provides an opening for a club head. Callaway’s Outperform Players towel specifications list a 30-by-20-inch towel with both a center slit and a quick-snap attachment. The two features can coexist: ask what is actually included instead of treating “players towel” or “golf towel” as a hardware specification.
These are manufacturer construction examples, not a verified Brand Sauce product shortlist. Exact decorated-product availability, destination-country fulfillment and pricing remain quote-needed.
Choose the attachment around the handout
- Mixed experience levels and assorted personal bags: request a compact clipped sample first. Confirm that the clip opens easily, closes fully and fits a representative bag ring. Include a simple attachment instruction at handout.
- Golfers who specifically prefer a larger draped towel: consider a center-slit format. Check the opening with the club/headcover arrangement they will actually use; do not assume every slit accommodates every setup.
- Players who remove the towel repeatedly: compare the real detach-and-reattach motion. A fiddly clip can be inconvenient; a slit can require lifting the towel over equipment. Have a golfer try both before making the choice.
- An outing with supplied or rental bags: inspect those bags first. A known attachment location gives you a much stronger basis for choosing hanging length than a flat product photograph.
Keep fabric weight and attachment as separate decisions. Our guide to towel GSM explains the weight question; a weight specification alone cannot tell you whether the finished golf towel hangs neatly.
Measure the hanging towel, not just its flat dimensions
Ask for the distance from the attachment point to the lowest part of the towel as supplied and hung. A folded towel, a corner-mounted eyelet and a center-mounted attachment can produce different drops. Include the clip in that measurement.
Illustrative clearance calculation, not a product test: suppose a bag’s attachment ring sits 24 inches above level ground and the sample hangs 17 inches below that ring, including its clip. Nominal clearance is 24 − 17 = 7 inches. If a different ring sits only 18 inches high, the same towel leaves 1 inch. The second arrangement deserves a physical check, not an assumption that a “golf towel” must fit.
This subtraction is only a screening aid. Put a stand bag on its legs, lift it as if walking and place it in the intended cart or trolley. Observe the towel’s lowest point and whether it catches on straps, legs, wheels or pocket openings. There is no universal clearance number in this checklist: approve the actual configurations your event expects.
Approve the logo in the hanging position
A flat artwork proof does not show which panel faces outward when a towel is clipped or draped. Ask for the decoration template and identify the attachment position, folds and slit before placing the sponsor artwork.
Request a photograph of the proposed decorated layout in its intended hanging configuration, with the logo visible at normal viewing distance. Keep important lettering away from the slit, eyelet and folds. For embroidery, also inspect the reverse and decide whether its backing and stitching suit the intended wiping area. Send production-ready logo files rather than asking the decorator to reconstruct a small screenshot.

This is a proposed sample-approval procedure, not a test Brand Sauce has performed. If the towel or hardware changes after approval, repeat the attachment and hanging check.
Bottom line: choose the attachment first, confirm the real hanging drop, then approve the logo where golfers will actually see it. A larger towel or larger print area is only useful if the finished item works on the bag.
